Career Coffee Chats

Career Coffee Chats is a casual networking program that brings together students, alumni, and industry professionals for meaningful career conversations in a welcoming and informal setting.

The program provides an opportunity for participants to practice their networking skills, explore career pathways, learn about different industries, and build professional connections. Through engaging discussions, students and alumni can gain valuable insights into career options, industry trends, workplace experiences, and professional growth.

Professionals from a variety of sectors will be available to share their career stories, offer advice, discuss industry opportunities, and answer questions from participants. Whether you are exploring career possibilities, seeking industry insights or looking to expand your professional network, Career Coffee Chats offers a supportive environment to connect and learn.

INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

The Career Coffee Chats program is for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, U of A graduates and Spousal/Partner Employment Program (SPEP) clients. No registration is required for participants.

  • Participants will have the opportunity to:
  • Practice and strengthen professional networking skills
  • Engage in career-focused conversations with industry professionals
  • Explore career options and pathways across different sectors
  • Learn about workplace trends, experiences and expectations
  • Build meaningful professional connections
  • Gain confidence in initiating and maintaining professional conversations

INFORMATION FOR PROFESSIONALS

We invite eight to twelve professionals from a variety of industries and sectors to each of the events. This is an opportunity for you to provide a safe and respectful learning environment and share your career stories, offer advice, discuss industry opportunities and answer questions from participants. There are no direct costs associated with your participation.

PROGRAM Q&A

  • Career Coffee Chats is a casual networking event where you can connect with professionals, practice your networking skills, explore career paths, and learn about different industries. Career Centre staff will be available throughout the event to answer questions and provide support.

  • There is no dress code for Career Coffee Chats. We recommend wearing comfortable, neat and professional-casual attire that helps you feel confident when meeting professionals.

  • Each event features 8 – 12 professionals representing a variety of industries and sectors. They are excited to share their career journeys, industry insights, and advice with students and alumni. Attendees are not announced beforehand.

  • No registration is required for participants. Career Coffee Chats is a drop-in event, so you are welcome to arrive and leave at any time during the event hours.
