Julie Haskins Celebrates 45 years in Cell Biology

Here's a question for all of you.

What were you doing in 1980?

Most of us weren't even born!

(Hint: and that includes the Department of Cell Biology!)

But that's when Julie Haskins first walked through the doors of the University of Alberta. Now, 45 years later, she has been recognized for her commitment to this university, this department, and yes, this unyielding passion. 

We are thrilled to celebrate this incredible milestone for Julie. Imagine the decades of scientific evolution, progress, and yes, faces, that she has witnessed over the years. She has been the unwavering thread connecting past discoveries to future breakthroughs. Today, she continues to make waves as the backbone of the labs led by Professors Andrew Simmonds and Sarah Hughes. She is without a doubt, invaluable, and the engine behind countless successes.

Let's all take a moment and imagine how the last 45 years may have looked (except maybe for the hairstyles). But then again, there's no need to imagine. She's always around in the hallways. All you need to do is ask her for a moment of her time. I'm sure she will be welcoming and kind just as she always has been. After all, she is a true Cell Biology legend and an inspiration to our entire Cell Biology community - here and afar.
