Celebrating CELL 400!

The inaugural CELL 400 lab course is a complete success!

7 April 2026

The inaugural semester of CELL 400 wrapped up this week in the best possible way...with cupcakes, big smiles, and a group photo to remember.

Led by Rineke Steenbergen and Alex Kennedy, this year's cohort of students dove headfirst into the demanding and rewarding world of modern cell biology. From mastering cell growth techniques to navigating microscopy and genetic manipulation, the team tackled the full breadth of what it means to truly understand cell structure and function — hands-on, bench to bench, week after week. Every student in that room earned their place — and their cupcake.

CELL 400 has been a demonstration of the excellence the Department offers to students and epitomizes why this department is continually sought for studies.

Congratulations to Rineke, Alex, and the entire Department of Cell Biology!
