The China Institute becomes an inaugural member of new national Association of Asia Research Centres
23 July 2026
The China Institute at the University of Alberta has joined the newly established Association of Asia Research Centres in Canada (AARCC/ACRAC) as an inaugural member. This new national network aims to strengthen collaboration, research, and knowledge exchange on Asia and Canada–Asia relations.
Established following its inaugural meeting in March, 2026, the association brings together leading Asia-focused research centres and networks from universities and institutions across Canada. As a national coordinating platform, the association aims to strengthen collaboration amongst members, improve information sharing, and facilitate engagement with policymakers, academic partners, and stakeholders in both Canada and across Asia.
The China Institute brings to AARCC/ACRAC its longstanding commitment to advancing informed dialogue and evidence-based research on Canada–China relations and broader developments in the Asia-Pacific. Through the association, The China Institute will contribute to joint research, knowledge mobilization, and policy dialogue with peer institutions across the country.
We look forward to working with fellow members to further strengthen Canada's collective expertise on Asia and Canada–Asia relations.
