CUP 2026 Annual Celebration Event set for Oct. 20

We are navigating a time of strong and often opposing views on immigration. Are we welcoming too many newcomers, or too few? What does good immigration policy look like, and whose perspectives should shape it? What happens when a policy that makes sense on paper meets the complexity of a family’s real life? How can the experiences of those working directly with children, youth and families help inform better policy?

In this talk, Manprit will ask thought-provoking questions, share stories from both sides of the immigration system, and reflect on what happens in the space between policy and people. She invites us to consider the value of perspective, lived experience, and genuine curiosity—and what becomes possible when we make room for more than one point of view.

Manprit Aujla-Grewal is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant with extensive experience across Alberta’s and Canada’s immigration systems, including the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program and IRCC. She has also served as an international student advisor at the University of Alberta and taught immigration and citizenship law at Queen’s University. In 2020, she appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration to provide input on immigration issues.
