Refund requests

If a vending machine processes a payment but fails to properly dispense your item, there is a process in place to help you get a refund and ensure the machine is serviced. It is important to note if the machine is identified as a Canteen vending machine or Coca-Cola beverage machine:

  • Option 1: You can submit a refund and service request directly to our vending provider.
    • For Canteen machines:
    • For Coca-Cola machines:
      • Note the RY XXXXXXX tag number on the machine.
      • Scan the QR code on the front of the machine or call 1-800-218-2653.
  • Option 2: Send an email to dining@ualberta.ca with the specific location of the machine, the date/time of the transaction and the item you were purchasing. Our team will happily facilitate a service ticket on your behalf to have the unit investigated and repaired during its next scheduled service, as well as getting your purchase refunded.

As of July 2025, all of our vending machines are transitioning to cashless systems.
