Welcome to the Alberta School of Business Finance & Student Awards page. Explore the details below for information on our two available CFA scholarships, including eligibility requirements, application guidelines and submission links.

Important Note: Please review the details carefully, as the two scholarships differ in their award processes and payment structures.

 

CFA Institute University Student Scholarship

As a Program Partner of the CFA Institute, the Alberta School of Business can recommend scholarships each exam year. Each academic year, the school has a limited number of scholarships to award.

Decisions for each exam scholarship will be made after the respective application deadline.

Application Deadline: Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025-2026 CFA Program Student Scholarship. The first and second round of selections are closed. The third round is now open. The student deadline for the third round is July 1, 2026. Successful applicants will be notified after July 1, 2026. Applications will not be accepted or awarded in August 2026.

The portal is now open for this competition period. Applications will be accepted until July 31, 2026 for the 2025-2026 CFA Program Student Scholarship.

Notes

  • Following the student deadline, the department reviews all applications and recommends those that are considered academically competitive (major, GPA) to the CFA Institute. The department may reject applications if they fail to submit the requested documents.
  • All communication following the application submission will be from the CFA. The ultimate decision to grant scholarships is determined by the CFA Institute.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by the CFA via email.

Our Policies

  • One scholarship per student per level. If you are still eligible for a scholarship when you are attempting Level 2, please reapply. You application will be considered for recommendation at that time.
  • Applications are not reviewed until after the student deadline.
  • For an application to be considered, it must contain all information and follow all instructions from above. (Current Academic CV and Current Unofficial U of A transcript must be attached to the application).

The Business Undergraduate Office or Master's Program Office are not involved in the allocation of this scholarship.

CFA Edmonton Society & Alberta School of Business Partnership Scholarship

This scholarship is funded in partnership by the CFA Edmonton Society and the Alberta School of Business to support high-achieving students pursuing professional finance credentials and careers. Each academic year, the school has a limited number of scholarships to award.

Application Opens: September 1

Submission Deadline: November 15

Notes

  • All communication following your application submission will be conducted directly by the Alberta School of Business. 
  • The ultimate decision to grant scholarships is determined jointly in partnership by the CFA Edmonton Society and the Alberta School of Business.
  • Successful applicants will be notified of their award status by email.

Our Policies

  • One scholarship per student. 
  • Students can only apply for this if they are going to be taking the exam while they are a current student. 
  • Applications are not reviewed until after the student deadline. 
  • For an application to be considered, it must contain a Current Academic CV and Current Unofficial U of A Transcript. 
  • The scholarships will be awarded as a reimbursement to the student in the amount of $1,750 towards the cost of the CFA exam fee. Students must provide a copy of their receipt in order to be reimbursed.
