Regenerative Medicine Hub

The Regenerative Medicine Hub is an interdisciplinary and collaborative community working towards a future where regenerative medicine fundamentally transforms healthcare.
Regenerative medicine focuses on developing groundbreaking treatments that repair the root causes of diseases, rather than alleviating symptoms. By using natural or bioengineered cells and molecules, assistive devices, and advanced engineering platforms paired with cutting-edge technology, it offers the potential to halt chronic disease progression or eliminate diseases at their source.
Our purpose
This Hub will bring together researchers, clinicians, industry partners and other leaders to accelerate the development of regenerative medicine and translate discoveries into improved patient care. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, network development and commercial acceleration, the Hub will drive transformative health solutions locally and globally.

Our Goals
Interdisciplinary Integration
Bridge biomedical academic and clinical research with critical broader disciplines — including health economics, rehabilitation, nursing, kinesiology, health law & ethics, commercialization and sociology — to address chronic conditions and associated disabilities.
Network Development and Training
Form an integrated network connecting researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, health system administrators, community and industry partners and policy makers. This network will support the training of Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) and assemble interdisciplinary teams to address complex health challenges.
Translation and Commercial Acceleration
Serve as a centralized platform enabling University of Alberta researchers to move foundational health discoveries through Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) toward commercialization and broad clinical adoption.

Hub Membership Criteria
The Regenerative Medicine Hub membership is open to those who:
- Have research interests in an area related to Regenerative Medicine.
- University of Alberta faculty member, clinician, support staff, trainee or student.
