Fees
It is the policy of the University of Alberta to charge fees for access to information under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act as allowed under the Alberta Regulation 200/95. Specifically, the university will charge rates as follows:
Fees for General Information
This section applies to requests for access to records that are not the personal information of the applicant.
An applicant is required to pay
- an initial $25.00 when a non-continuing request is made, or
- an initial fee of $50.00 when a continuing request is made.
Processing of a request will not commence until the initial fee has been paid.
In addition to the initial fee, fees in accordance with Schedule 2 of the Alberta Regulation 200/95 may be charged if the amount of the fees, as estimated by the public body to which the request has been made, exceeds $150.00.
Where the amount estimated exceeds $150.00, the total amount is to be charged.
Fees for Personal Information
Only fees for copying in accordance with item 6 of Schedule 2 of the Alberta Regulation 200/95 may be charged if the amount of the fees as estimated by the public body to which the request has been made exceeds $10.00.
Where the amount estimated exceeds $10.00, the total amount is to be charged.
Waiver or Reduction of Fees
The university may waive or reduce such fees upon submission of compelling evidence of the need for such a waiver. The burden of proof for such a waiver falls on the applicant requesting the information. Any such decision by the university is subject to a review by the Alberta Information and Privacy Commissioner.
