Photography + Video Policy

The following policy governs the taking of photos and videos in public and restricted spaces at all U of A Library locations, as well as their use.

U of A students and staff may take photos/videos of (other U of A-affiliated) individuals in library spaces for educational, marketing, or advertising purposes. Restrictions may apply in quiet study areas and during exams.

Permitted: 

Not permitted: 

  • Organized, posed group photos (like wedding portraits) and staged film shoots
  • Any photo/video activity that blocks library entrances, passages, or staircases, or that requires the use of special lighting or reflectors
  • Restricted library areas such as staff offices or processing/storage areas
