Alliance with Ethiopia:
Virtual Simulation and an Ongoing Partnership in Addis Ababa

Dr. Jacoby will describe ongoing efforts in supporting Ethiopia’s 1st Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric Emergency fellowship programme, as well as plans for future multi-disciplinary involvement. She will describe her experiences in creating and delivering virtual simulations for resuscitation, as well as mentorship, education and collaboration between the University of Alberta and St Paul Millennium Medical College.
Dr. Lynn Jacoby, MD is a Clinical Associate in Pediatric Critical Care, at the Stollery Children’s Hospital and a Locums Pediatric Intensivist, at Calgary's Alberta Children’s Hospital. She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta and a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Calgary.
Dr. Jacoby attended medical school at the University of Michigan, completed her pediatrics training at the University of Arizona and her Pediatric Critical Care training at the University of Alberta. She has worked for Médecins Sans Frontières in India, Sudan, South Sudan, Nigeria and France. She has also worked in Haiti and Tanzania with other NGO’s. She has varied experience in pediatrics, from the Emergency Room to the outpatient office, intensive care unit and refugee camps. She is currently part of an international consortium supporting the first combined fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Critical Care in Africa, located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
