Applications for the University of Alberta’s northern Alberta medical education program open July 1, 2024 for the 2025/26 academic year. Learners will have the opportunity to complete their U of A training in the Grande Prairie region in partnership with Northwestern Polytechnic
The goal of the new Northern Alberta Medical Program (NAMP) is to fully prepare graduates for family medicine and general practice positions to address primary-care needs in rural, regional and Indigenous communities across Alberta.

Locations
Programs will take place at Northwestern Polytechnic’s School of Health at the Grande Prairie campus and adjacent Health Education Centre (HEC). The HEC is conveniently co-located within the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and is a leading-edge facility that offers 40,000 square feet of teaching, learning, research, and administration space.
