Global Engagement
The University of Alberta maintains active collaborations with hundreds of partners in over 80 countries, spanning academia, industry, governments, research institutes, hospitals and health systems, multilateral organizations, foundations, not-for-profits and innovation ecosystems.
These partnerships enrich our global learning and research environment and strengthen the university’s international reputation.
Drawing on deep international expertise and institutional knowledge, Global Engagement plays a critical administrative and service role within the Vice-President, International, Innovation and Enterprise (VPIIE) portfolio to develop, coordinate and sustain these valued partnerships.
Global Engagement Support and Expertise
- VPIIE partners liaise directly with colleges and faculties to ensure their research excellence and strategic objectives are advanced in the enterprise and internationalization functions of VPIIE
- Provides strategic advice and intelligence for the development and implementation of global agreements and major international initiatives
- Drafts, negotiates and maintains agreements with international institutions and partners
- Administers the U of A Connect web portal and CRM platform to manage strategic partnership data
- Manages logistics for incoming visits, outgoing senior administration missions, and coordinates events and projects for the broader International, Innovation and Enterprise portfolio
