Faces of WISEST: Princess Eze
Princess Eze
Staff Member 2023 & 2024
I first joined WISEST as a Summer Student Coordinator for the 2023 SRP program, later continuing as a coordinator for the SET and CHOICES conferences and the 2024 SRP program. Working with WISEST was especially meaningful to me because I was giving students opportunities I never had growing up. I wasn’t exposed to STEM at a young age and often struggled to find mentors who looked like me or shared my lived experiences. Through WISEST, I was able to change that story, both by meeting incredible mentors and by becoming one for others.
The years I spent with WISEST were filled with growth, community, and purpose. I truly cherish the colleagues and students I met along the way, each of whom inspired me in different ways. WISEST helped me develop confidence, leadership, and communication skills that continue to serve me today. My WISEST community became a pillar of support throughout my journey to medical school, and I am deeply grateful for everyone (especially Fervone) for their constant encouragement.
As I continue toward my goal of becoming a physician, I carry WISEST’s values with me: working to redefine who can thrive in STEM; creating inclusive, affirming spaces for people of all backgrounds; and building a strengths-based community that breaks barriers through collaboration. My time at WISEST shaped how I show up for others, encouraged me to advocate for equity, and helped me to imagine a more inclusive future in medicine and science.
