Get Involved

"We spend so much time learning and developing skills, it makes sense to share them with others. Particularly in a publicly-funded institution, the things we learn should be shared."  | Community Connect Participant when asked"Why do we do engagement work?"

So many opportunities to get involved!

There are numerous initiatives that vary in time commitment, audience, and desired Individual Development Plan (IDP) competency acquisition. If you want to share your research in an oral presentation try EPL's On the Edge Speaker Series or the Three Minute Thesis Competition. Maybe you'd prefer creating and presenting a tactile demonstration, then Telus World of Science Student Showcase or Research in a Suitcase are just the opportunities for you. Ever wanted to mentor an undergraduate through their research project? Try becoming a URI Mentor today! Are you more of a behind-the-scenes individual, try publishing a peer-reviewed Written Three Minute Thesis (W3MT). Lastly, hone your leadership skills by becoming an FGSR Research Ambassador bringing your work to the public.

These opportunities are regularly featured in The Shortlist newsletter. Subscribe here.
