The Faculty of Nursing placed students with Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society and Maskwacis Health Services in the undergraduate program. In the graduate program, a Nurse Practitioner (NP) student was placed with Maskwacis Health Services in the winter 2022 term, and we are exploring several other Indigenous-focused placements for NP students.
Building Capacity for Reconciliation Augustana Campus
Augustana's Workshops in Building Capacity for Reconciliation [20] is a certificate program, open to Augustana students, staff and faculty, as well as members of the larger Camrose and U of A communities who want to learn more about the Indigenous peoples of Canada.
Two faculty members participated with the Canadian Association of Student Nurses Task Force on Cultural Competency and Cultural Safety on a document to increase the integration of Indigenous knowledge aligned with the cultural safety framework for faculty and students.
CILLDI, pronounced 'sill-dee', is the Canadian Indigenous Languages and Literacy Development Institute. Hosted at the University of Alberta, the Institute is dedicated to the revitalization of Indigenous languages through documentation, teaching, and literacy.

Dr. Cindy Gaudet has been invited to contribute with Parks Canada, Métis Nation of Alberta and Métis Nation of Saskatchewan, and Rupertsland Institute to advance Métis peoples’ knowledge systems (language) as part of their respective approaches to reconciliation.

Dr. Keavy Martin leads a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) - funded research project, Creative Conciliation, which explores how Indigenous arts and arts-based research can fruitfully contribute to reconciliation.
Dr. Rebecca Macias Gimenez researches the intersection between Aboriginal Law, Indigenous peoples and Indigenous Law, and Environmental Law, particularly in British Columbia.
