Covid-19

Stay home if you're feeling unwell, or experiencing any Covid-19 Symptoms.

  • Every patron will be asked a set of pre-screening questions before being able to access the HFLC/PA spaces.
  • We are cleaning touchpoints on a regular schedule and monitoring physical distancing in all common areas.
  • All users, participants, and spectators will be required to wear a mask at all times in common spaces.

Schedule a Drop-in Appointment

NOW AVAILABLE FOR: Aquatics, Fitness, Climbing, and Drop-in Sports and Activities

Our usual drop-in operations have been adjusted to comply with COVID-19 safety measures:

  • Drop-in use will require a scheduled appointment slot.
  • OneCard (or proof of facility fee payment and registration) will be required.
  • Bring a copy of your registration with you to confirm registration.
  • You can cancel your appointment online through www.activityreg.ualberta.ca.

ATTENTION
ATTENTION: Each participant must create their own registration account and schedule their own reservation for the time slot they choose. Please do not register the same person more than once under the same time slot as this will not complete the registration and will prevent your entry into the facility instead of guaranteeing a spot.

  1. Login to your activity registration account on www.activityreg.ualberta.ca
  2. Click on upcoming bookings.
  3. Here you should see a red CANCEL button beside your scheduled time slots.
  4. Click CANCEL and follow the prompts to complete your cancellation.
Reopening Update - August 7, 2020

We are very excited to welcome you back!

We have been busy getting our facilities ready for everyone to enjoy again in a safe way. Our reopening plan will include enhanced cleaning protocols, pre-screening processes at entry, and capacity limits. Below is some important information about what is upcoming.

Reopening Dates and Hours

Tentative Facility Re-Opening Dates:

  • Hanson Fitness & Lifestyle Centre (HFLC): August 17 for scheduled appointments. Book your drop-in time online at activityreg.ualberta.ca
  • Wilson Climbing Centre (WCC): August 17 for scheduled appointments. Book your drop-in time online at activityreg.ualberta.ca
  • West Pool in Van Vliet Complex (VVC): July 6 for scheduled appointments. Book your drop-in time online at activityreg.ualberta.ca
  • Clare Drake Arena (VVC): September 8 for scheduled appointments for Rec Skate starting September 21. Book your drop-in time online at activityreg.ualberta.ca
  • Sports and Activities in Van Vliet Complex (VVC) Pavilion Running Track, Gyms & Courts: September 1 for scheduled appointments. Book your drop-in time online at activityreg.ualberta.ca
  • Van Vliet Complex (VVC): For gymnasium, Pavilion, Arena, outdoor space rentals and CCR programming. Contact bookings@ualberta.ca to book your space.
  • Saville Community Sport Centre (West): August 10 for gymnasium rentals only.
  • Saville Community Sport Centre (East) Fitness Gym: September 1 for scheduled appointments. Book your drop-in time online at activityreg.ualberta.ca
  • Saville Community Sport Centre (East) Curling Centre: September 14 for scheduled appointments.

Wilson Climbing Centre

Saville Community Sport Centre (West)
Monday – Friday: 9:00 am - 9:00 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Saville Community Sport Centre (East)
Monday – Friday: 7:00 am – 10:00 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Campus & Community Recreation Re-Opening Plans

At Campus & Community Recreation, we believe in the power of physical activity and social interaction as an important part of the health and wellness of the communities we serve. The physical and mental health of our students, staff, faculty, and community members is our highest priority. As such, we are currently developing plans to re-open our sport and recreation facilities over the course of the summer.

We will begin our re-opening plans on Monday, July 6, 2020. The following facilities will open:

  • Lister Soccer Field – booked space
  • Lister Beach Volleyball Courts – booked space
  • Varsity Field – booked space
  • Campus St Jean Soccer Fields – booked space
  • Saville Community Sports Centre Indoor Tennis Centre – members only
  • Saville Community Sports Centre, Ortona Gymnastics – members only
  • Saville Sport Performance Centre – members only
  • Van Vliet Complex – West Pool – registered programs and rentals only
  • Van Vliet Complex – Wilson Climbing Centre – registered programs only

In particular, we are very excited to offer children’s Aquatics and Climbing Camps and adult Aquasize to our clients. To learn more please visit activityreg.ualberta.ca.

We are also excited to offer lane swim beginning Monday, July 6. Lane swim times will be Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 9:00 am and 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Lane swim time participation will be limited and must be pre-booked by emailing aquatics@ualberta.ca.

Safety is paramount to our re-opening plans and all facilities will observe various COVID-19 protocols. In this initial stage, here are some notable changes to be aware of:

  • The exterior doors to Van Vliet Complex will not be open. Access to the West Pool will be through the west pool doors (directly onto the deck) located across from Varsity Field. Access to the Wilson Climbing Centre will be through the exterior entrance on 114 Street.
  • Please come ready for your activity, lockers will not be available.
  • Shower areas will be limited to swimmers before and after their swim.
  • Our staff will observe physical distancing as much as possible within the confines of the activity space and will be wearing masks when physical distancing is not possible.
  • Our clients will be asked to observe AHS guidelines and conduct pre-screening activities prior to entering the activity spaces.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back! Over the course of the summer we will continue to open other facilities:

  • Mid-late July – Outdoor Fitness Gym; Foote Field Dome
  • Early August – Steadward Centre
  • Mid-August – Hansen Fitness and Lifestyle Centre; Pavilion, Gyms and studios, Saville Community Sports Centre Basketball, Volleyball gyms
  • Early September – Clare Drake Arena, Saville Community Sports Centre Curling

*NOTE: Our facilities in the Van Vliet Complex still remain closed to the general public at this time, with the exception of some registered, outdoor programming and kid's climbing & aquatics day camps. As you are aware, the Government of Alberta has announced the re-launch guidelines for the Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation sector as part of their stage 2 reopening strategy. We are in the process of reviewing these guidelines and developing plans to welcome you back in a safe and responsible manner. We ask for your patience while we conduct our assessment and put plans in place and will make an announcement regarding our re-launch plans in the near future.

Facility Update - April 17

Dear Campus & Community Recreation Clients

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Alberta and closures of all Recreation facilities, Campus & Community Recreation has made the decision to cancel our spring program session which was scheduled to run throughout the months of May and June.

For those currently registered for a spring session program, you will receive a full refund within the upcoming weeks. We anticipate offering our Summer Sport Leagues for July and August, please look out for registrations to open in early June.

We will continue to monitor and work with Alberta Health Services and the Government of Alberta and provide updates as we navigate through this public health concern.
