The Indigenous Law Students’ Association at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law brought together renowned leaders in Indigenous law for its annual speaker series, which ran March 4-8.

The theme of this year was “Reconciling the Law After the Storm,” following last year’s focus on “Having the Courage to Face the Storm.”

Speakers included Lisa Weber, ‘99 LLB, Eleanore Sunchild, ‘98 LLB, Judge Gerald Morin, Darian Baskatawang and Sheldon Spotted Elk.

The Indigenous Justice Award, presented each year at the speaker series, was awarded to Morin in recognition of his dedication to Indigenous justice. Created in 1994, the Indigenous Justice Award marked the first graduating class from the Indigenous Law program at the U of A.
