Sea of Sound Festival Celebrates 25 Years of Electroacoustic Music in Canada

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Canadian Electroacoustic Music Community is joining forces with The University of Alberta Department of Music, The Boreal Electroacoustic Music Society and Tonus Vivus Society for New Music for a three-day celebration of new music at the Sea of Sound Festival November 18-20 at The Catalyst Theatre and New City Legion.

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Canadian Electroacoustic Music Community is joining forces with The University of Alberta Department of Music, The Boreal Electroacoustic Music Society and Tonus Vivus Society for New Music for a three-day celebration of new music at the Sea of Sound Festival November 18-20 at The Catalyst Theatre and New City Legion.

Presenting a series of concerts featuring new sounds and experiences created with technology in an eight-channel surround sound environment, the Sea of Sound Festival will showcase music by local Albertan artists, as well as the winning electroacoustic works of the National Jeu de temps/Times Play 2011 (JTTP 2011) Competition for young and emerging Canadian artists.

A collection of sound art works and performances featuring music, dance, video, theatre, installation, and acousmatic surround sound works, The Sea of Sound Festival will also include a special seminar with Kevin Austin of the Canadian Electroacoustic Music Community.
