On March 6, 2023, Professor Michael Frishkopf presented a talk and Q&A session on "Autonomously Adaptive Soundscapes for Reducing Stress in Critically-Ill Patients" as part of the JUNOs Talk series. This presentation was the culmination of a research project partially funded by the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute with an aim to reducing stress among ICU patients. The Autonomous Adaptive Soundscape project is a direct demonstration of how the department's music research intersects health sciences and computer science to adress a societal need.
