The Department of Physics at the University of Alberta offers a visiting professorship for distinguished visitors, and two postdoctoral fellowships for recent PhD graduates.
For distinguished visiting professors
The Hiroomi Umezawa Memorial Distinguished Lecturer is hosted by the Theoretical Physics Institute at the University of Alberta. TPI invites world-leading speakers to honour the late University of Alberta professor Hiroomi Umezawa, whose loved ones established the Umezawa Fund to support studies in physics.
For women who are recent PhD Physics graduates
The Avadh Bhatia Women's Postdoctoral Fellowship is conferred to a woman who is a recent PhD graduate with a demonstrated potential for excellence in research. We invite applications for this fellowship roughly every two years.
For recent PhD graduates
The Theoretical Physics Fellowship is aimed at a recent PhD graduate (within 3 years of PhD degree) in theoretical physics with demonstrated potential for excellence in research. Approximately every two years, researchers from a broad range of areas such as condensed matter physics, particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology, plasma physics and geophysics are invited to apply.
