DISCOVER UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA AWARD
Designed to provide early and sustainable financial support to incoming domestic high school students. Up to 30 new students per year will qualify for up to $8,000/year.
*Applications close February 15, 2023. This award has a separate application process.

TURTLE SPIRIT PATHWAY AWARD FOR FIRST NATIONS, MÉTIS, AND INUIT STUDENTS
Designed to provide early and sustainable financial support to incoming high school students and students currently enrolled with the U of A Transition Year Program. Up to 20 new students per year will qualify for up to $8,000/year.
*Applications close February 15, 2023. This award has a separate application process.
You could be starting with scholarships you don't even have to apply for! You will be evaluated for these scholarships when you apply for admission. Your eligibility will be based on your high school admission average at the time of your admission offer. We'll assess you for a match to the following and many more.

GOLD STANDARD SCHOLARSHIP
The top 5% of students in each faculty could receive up to $6,000, depending on admission average.

INDIGENOUS ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP
Self-declaring First Nations, Métis, or Inuit applicants with an admission average of 80%+ may receive $1,500.

NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The top incoming out-of-province Canadian students will receive $30,000, payable over four years.

SCHOLASTIC DISTINCTION SCHOLARSHIP
High-achievers with admission averages of 95%+ and an outstanding application will be assessed for the most prestigious scholarships offered by the University of Alberta.

ENTRANCE LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
Well-rounded students with admission averages of 80%+ will be assessed for scholarships to recognize their accomplishments through leadership roles.

ENRICHED SCHOLAR SCHOLARSHIP
Top AP and IB students may receive up to $5,000 to recognize their achievements in an academically rigorous program.

FLY HOME AWARD
Out-of-province Canadian students with a strong sense of community could receive up to $1,500 to help them stay connected to home.

EDUCATION ABROAD AWARD
Canadian students interested in exploring the world and getting a global perspective could receive up to $3,750 to enhance their university experience with an education abroad program.

Students with superior academics attending high school in Canada on a study permit may receive a scholarship up to $5,000.

UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA REGIONAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Students attending high school in Canada on a study permit with an admission average of 80%+ could receive a scholarship up to $5,000. Selection is based on the region of a student’s high school.

PRESIDENT’S INTERNATIONAL DISTINCTION SCHOLARSHIP
This is the University of Alberta’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship for international students and is valued at $120,000 (payable over four years). It is intended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, creativity, and who are recognized leaders within their school.

UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA INTERNATIONAL LEADER SCHOLARSHIP
Well-rounded leaders with superior academics could receive a scholarship ranging from $5,000 – $10,000.

MAY QUON UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
High-achieving students attending high school in Canada on a study permit with Chinese or Hong Kong citizenship, and financial need, will be considered for this prestigious scholarship valued at $45,000, payable over four years.
General Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the following base academic criteria for entrance scholarships and awards:

Present an admission average that meets or exceeds those required for the specific scholarship or award.

Be entering university directly from high school with fewer than 12 credits of university course work taken during high school or following time taken off between high school and university, provided that no post-secondary credit was received during that time.

Be entering the first year of full-time studies in an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta in September of the upcoming year.
Additional scholarship criteria may apply. Candidate eligibility for specific scholarships will be assessed based on their admission information and their scholarship application. Our scholarship and award competitions are competitive; there is no guarantee that meeting eligibility will result in a scholarship or award offer.
Entrance award offers are conditional on the accuracy of your self-recorded grades. If there is a discrepancy between your self-recorded grades and your final official transcript, your award offer could be revoked.
How to Apply
Important information before you apply:
- Apply for admission to your desired program to receive a CCID and password to apply for scholarships. Please note that it can take 2-3 business days for a CCID to be generated.
