Arts research explores the dynamics of human existence. How do we live together and what drives us apart? What are the social, cultural, political, economic and historical conditions that enable us to thrive or that undermine our well-being? What matters to us, and how do we know? What and how do we celebrate, critique, resist or change? Visit any news website and you’ll immediately discover that the concerns of arts researchers and creators are the central concerns of society. Our research initiatives are the product of both individual and collaborative projects. Some of our research projects are strictly disciplinary, while others require the insights of many kinds of knowledge. And the focus of our investigations ranges from the individual and the local to the cosmos.
