College Dean & VICE PROVOST
Joseph Doucet
Joseph Doucet is the interim college dean and vice provost of the University of Alberta’s College of Social Sciences and Humanities, which brings together the combined strength of the faculties of arts, business, education, and law. It represents a total of 500 faculty members and 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
A respected academic, Joe has held faculty and visiting appointments at Université Laval, the University of Florida, and Université Montpellier (France); he earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Joe started with the University of Alberta as an associate professor with the Alberta School of Business in 2000, was named the Enbridge Professor of Energy Policy in 2005, and led the school as dean from 2013 to 2021.
