General Use Servers

Remote Login and General Login

login.cs.ualberta.ca (aka innisfree)

  • Specs: Opteron250-4096, in CS329, with 4096 MB RAM, running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
  • General use: Remote login, general login, X (xdm) and VNC server for the Department. Everyone with access to innisfree is welcome to use the machine for interactive tasks.

General Purpose Servers

bonanza

  • Specs: Opteron/6134-98304, in CS231, with 96GB RAM, running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
  • General use: CPU server for grad students not affiliated with a research lab. However, everyone with access to bonanza is welcome to use the machine for CPU jobs as long as that use does not interfere with use by grad students not affliated with a research lab.

pipestone

  • Specs: Xeon E5430QC/2.66G-32768, in CS329, with 32GB RAM, running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
  • General use: CPU server for grad students not affiliated with a research lab. However, everyone with access to pipestone is welcome to use the machine for CPU jobs as long as that use does not interfere with use by grad students not affiliated with a research lab.

Notes

  1. If you are not on a Computing Science network you must use our VPN server before trying to ssh directly  to bonanza and pipestone.
