Undergraduate training occurs at one of the 4 teaching hospitals throughout Edmonton that are affiliated with the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine.
Grey Nuns Community Hospital
With 267 beds, the Grey Nuns Community Hospital provides a full range of services including a 24-hour Emergency Department, general and vascular surgery, intensive and cardiac care, general medicine, children's health, women's health, diagnostics, mental health and ambulatory care. The 14-bed tertiary palliative care unit is world-renowned for its delivery of care and teaching practices and is home base for a regional palliative program.
Misericordia Hospital
The Misericordia Hospital is an acute care facility that has 259 beds and offers 24-hour Emergency care, general medicine and surgery, orthopedics, urology, plastic surgery, intensive and coronary care, pediatrics, geriatrics, mental health, womens' health, diagnostics and ambulatory care. It is also home to the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (iRSM), a world-class facility for reconstruction of the face, head and neck.
Royal Alexandra Hospital
The Royal Alexandra Hospital is located in the heart of Edmonton and provides general, specialized medical and surgical health services. As one of Alberta's largest surgical facilities, the hospital plays a lead role in the expansion and development of minimally invasive surgery.
University of Alberta Hospital UofA
The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada's leading clinical, research and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from across western and northern Canada. The UofA Hospital is clinical strong in the areas of pediatric anesthesia, regional anesthesia, acute and chronic pain management, neuroanesthesia and cardiac anesthesia.
