University of Alberta and AASUA ratify renewal collective agreement
31 October 2025
The university is pleased to announce that the tentative agreement between the university and AASUA has been successfully ratified by both AASUA members and the university's Board of Governors. The agreement will now be put into its final form by the parties and submitted to the Alberta Labour Relations Board, bringing this round of bargaining to a conclusion.
Terms of the agreement are effective upon ratification
The agreement is for a four-year term, from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2028, and became effective upon ratification. Some items are retroactive, including the 3% across-the-board salary increases (July 1, 2024 for year one increases and July 1, 2025 for year two increases). Details of the agreement and information on the implementation of the terms will be provided in the coming weeks.
The university thanks both bargaining teams for their work in this round of bargaining. This agreement recognizes the important contributions academic staff members bring to learning, research and academic excellence, and it supports the university’s priorities of student success, sustainability, and the interests of the broader university community.
Information will continue to be provided in the coming weeks as the agreement is implemented.
