University of Alberta and GSA begin negotiations in October

The University of Alberta received notice to commence bargaining from the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) on June 27, 2024, initiating negotiations on a renewed collective agreement. The existing agreement between the university and the GSA expired on August 31, 2024, but remains in effect in accordance with the provisions of the Alberta Labour Relations Code.

The parties are scheduled to exchange initial proposals in a meeting on October 9, 2024 and to subsequent meetings through December. Any future meeting dates will be added to the meeting schedules page as they become available.

The university is committed to a fair, respectful and sustainable collective bargaining process that considers the importance of the interests of students, faculty, staff, and all internal and external partners within the university community. We look forward to productive discussions with the GSA.
