ULEC Webinar - Prize-Winning UN SDG Videos in Ukrainian: How They Were Developed

On February 17, the Ukrainian Language Education Centre (ULEC) hosted the webinar “Prize-Winning UN SDG Videos in Ukrainian: How They Were Developed,” which presented the full development journey of a series of award-winning Ukrainian-language educational videos focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The Ukrainian-language webinar brought together the project team, who presented their collaborative work from the earliest conceptual stages through to classroom implementation.
The session included, in order of presentation, Dr. Olenka Bilash (Director, Principal researcher and Intern supervisor), Anastasiia Kostenko and Andrii Stravskyi (student research interns), Dr. Mariia Ostroha (coordinator and co-developer), Dr. Oksana Butkovska (co-developer and co-researcher), and Kharytia Bilash (voice coach and mixer). Collectively, they elaborated on the pedagogical, linguistic, and production dimensions of the project. The video series was created for youth audiences and addresses global environmental, social, and cultural challenges through real-life examples from different regions of the world, while simultaneously supporting Ukrainian language learning and the development of communicative competency for non-native speakers. The project has received recognition at academic and educational conferences in several countries, underscoring its innovative integration of sustainability education, language pedagogy, and media design.
