A large part of U School’s success is the dedication and enthusiasm of all of our amazing volunteers!
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming people who enjoy working with students between the ages of 8-15. All volunteers must have a connection to the University of Alberta. They can be undergraduate students, graduate students, post doctoral fellows, staff, faculty, Senators, or alumni. All U School volunteer shifts take place at the University of Alberta North Campus.

Our registration website allows you to select when you would like to volunteer as a classroom volunteer (classroom mentor or interviewee). It will ask you to provide us with some basic information about yourself and show you available shifts. You will receive an automated confirmation right away. Closer to your volunteering shift, you will receive an email from one of our Classroom Facilitators with more details about where to meet the class and what to expect during your volunteer shift. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering as a presenter, please contact us at uschool@ualberta.ca.
If you are interested in presenting, please contact the Program Lead at uschool@ualberta.ca. Presenters can be faculty members, undergraduate student clubs, graduate students, UofA staff members, or Senators. If you need help with building an age appropriate session, let us know and we are happy to help you connect students to your field of study!
Erika volunteers at U School to give back, connect with others, and step outside her comfort zone. Her favourite session? Interviews! Erika loves hearing the creative questions students ask and enjoys the fun moments. The students at U School have inspired Erika to embrace excitement in everything and find joy in the little things, like pizza parties on Friday.
Marie joined U School after her sister's recommendation and
stayed for the lasting impact on students. She loved the rocks and minerals museum and the interactive nerve session. Her favourite moments are seeing students' excitement when she returns. Volunteering has given her a deep sense of gratitude and a new perspective on educational opportunities and the importance of supporting diverse communities.
