CMPUT 604 - 3D TV: Display, Transmission and Acquisition
Overview
3D is emerging as the next big advancement of Multimedia with 3D TVs to home, 3D conferencing in offices, 3D Virtual Cities by Google, 3D Movies and Games, and so on. There are many challenges involved in making 3D work seamlessly over existing networks and broadcasting medium, being acceptable to the end user, and creating content that can be viewed with these new devices. We will look into various issues in 3D Processing, Compression, Retrieval, Visualization and Transmission and also review some of the 3D display technologies.
Students must have taken an advanced image processing and graphics course. Also, familiarity with C, C++, and JAVA is required.
