Hiring Documentation
To start the hiring process, please provide copies of the following:
- Your up-to-date resume
- Your Social Insurance Number Card (if you do not have the card, please send a letter from Service Canada indicating that you have a SIN [Service Canada no longer replaces cards], or a past T4 or Record of Employment [computer generated] or a Tax Assessment you received from Revenue Canada). NOTE: If your SIN begins with the number '9', please also provide your Work/Study permit. If you are here on a Work/Study permit, you will need to show us your passport as well.
- Government issued photo identification such as Driver's Licence, Provincial ID, Passport, Citizenship Card, Permanent Resident Card or Indian Status Card.
- In your email back to us, please indicate your country of citizenship (if you are a permanent resident or if you are a Permit holder).
For 2 and 3 above, copies will need to be certified. Include the following information on your copies:

The following people can certify your documents:
- Chief or Councillor of First Nations Band Council
- Dentist
- Judge
- Lawyer (member of a provincial bar association)
- Magistrate
- Mayor
- Medical doctor
- Minister of religion authorized under provincial law to perform marriages
- Notary public
- Optometrist
- Pharmacist
- Police officer (municipal, provincial, or RCMP)
- Postmaster
- Principal of a primary or secondary school
- Professional accountant (APA, CA, CGA, CMA, PA, RPA)
- Professional engineer (P.Eng., Eng. in Quebec)
- Senior administrator in a community college (includes CEGEPs)
- Senior administrator or teacher in a university
- Social worker with MSW (Masters in Social Work)
- Veterinarian
To submit your documents securely, merge them into one password-protected PDF document and email it to pluhire@ualberta.ca. Send the password in a separate email or via Google Chat.
