Welcome to our 2026-27 Writer-in-Residence Jana Pruden

Jana G. Pruden is an award-winning reporter and feature writer at The Globe and Mail in Canada, and the host and co-creator of the hit narrative podcast series, In Her Defence. 

Jana is a frequent speaker and presenter on subjects related to crime and justice issues, domestic violence, and writing craft. Her longform and narrative writing has been recognized internationally, including with multiple awards and citations from the National Newspaper Awards, the Canadian Association of Journalists, and the Canadian Journalism Foundation.
