The Viking Cup (1980-2006) launched hundreds of professional hockey careers, drew thousands of spectators, and put Camrose, AB, on the international map. It also remains one of the foremost examples in Canada of the amazing things that can be accomplished in a small town when hundreds of community members band together in pursuit of a common goal.
Join ACSRC Director Dr. Clark Banack in conversation with long-time Viking Cup Coordinator LeRoy Johnson and Committee Chair Verlyn Olson, as they discuss the community’s involvement in the tournament, the impact that it had on Camrose, and what we can learn from the Viking Cup experience as we imagine future community-driven projects in Camrose and other small towns throughout Canada.
