Research Development + Services (RDS)

Research Development and Services advances research through Research Administrative Services, Indigenous Initiatives, and a commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. This unit provides comprehensive support services to foster researcher success, enhance institutional research capacity, and catalyze impactful research programs across the institution.

Research Integrity Support - Ethics, Security and Compliance

Research Integrity Support (RIS) ensures the responsible, ethical, and compliant conduct of research at the University of Alberta. RIS provides institutional oversight for research ethics and regulatory compliance, including Human and Animal Research Ethics, research security and due diligence, Clinical Trials Monitoring and compliance with federal and provincial research legislation.

RIS also oversees institution-level regulatory authorizations, including the University’s institutional cannabis licence, and supports researchers in meeting applicable ethics, safety, and legal requirements for regulated research activities.

Innovation, Knowledge Mobilization + Partnerships

Innovation, Knowledge Mobilization and Partnerships translates research into societal benefits through Technology Transfer and Licensing, fosters Innovation and Partnerships by connecting researchers with external stakeholders, and is supported by Administration, Contracts, and IP Management.

Research Partner Network (RPNet)

The Research Partner Network (RPNet) provides U of A researchers with research development support. This support includes best practices in research proposal crafting and application development, requirements related to external funding sponsors, and streamlining of the research development and administration continuum.
