Welcome to the U of A equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in Research service space!
At the University of Alberta, we are committed to advancing EDI in research. By incorporating EDI principles, we harness a broader range of ideas, expertise, and perspectives, resulting in more innovative thinking and stronger outcomes that better reflect our diverse world. EDI considerations also help researchers create projects that have a positive impact on society as a whole. We take pride in being among the first signatories of the Government of Canada's Dimensions Canada charter, which aims to increase EDI within post-secondary institutions and the research ecosystem. We are also currently a member of the Dimensions Recognition Program. OFFICE OF THE VP (RESEARCH) EFFORTS
The Office of the Vice-President (Research) is leading and collaborating on various institution-wide initiatives to further integrate EDI in U of A's research activities.
Accessibility in Research Support Fund
We know that researchers living with disabilities or who are neurodivergent are often forced to use research grants to cover accessibility needs. This fund is available to cover expenses for accessibility in research and knowledge mobilization activities.

EDI remains an important framework to guide care and responsibility in research under the U of A's goals of increasing access, providing community, and fostering belonging. The Tri-Agency Dimensions Recognition Program aims to identify and eliminate obstacles and inequities impacting post-secondary research by trainees, postdoctoral fellows, and full-time and part-time academic and non-academic staff.
