Research Integrity - Ethics, Security and Compliance
Research Integrity Support (RIS) ensures the responsible, ethical, and compliant conduct of research at the University of Alberta. RIS provides institutional oversight for research ethics and regulatory compliance, including Human and Animal Research Ethics, research security and due diligence, Clinical Trials Monitoring and compliance with federal and provincial research legislation.
RIS also oversees institution-level regulatory authorizations, including the University’s institutional cannabis licence, and supports researchers in meeting applicable ethics, safety, and legal requirements for regulated research activities.
Research Ethics Office
The Research Ethics Office (REO) provides effective, integrated administration and support within all aspects of the ethics review and approval process for research involving human participants and animal-based research, teaching, and testing.

Safeguarding Research Office
The Safeguarding Research Office (SRO) ensures researchers and staff have the support required to successfully navigate research security requirements applicable to funding applications at both the federal and provincial levels.
