This is a unique opportunity to network with others who share your passion for engineering and explore how people with disabilities and neurodivergent experience engineering workplaces, challenges, and how they can thrive.

The event will take place in the Fred Pheasey Engineering Commons at the University of Alberta’s Donadeo ICE building. The space is fully accessible by elevator.

What to Expect

This event is designed to foster meaningful connections between undergraduate students from all engineering disciplines, staff and faculty members, and industry professionals who have navigated the engineering field. Through informal socialization and an insightful panel discussion, attendees will gain valuable perspectives on overcoming barriers, embracing diversity, and thriving in engineering careers.

The evening will kick off with a socialization period from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., offering attendees a chance to mingle, grab appetizers, and start building connections right away. Following this, the panel Q&A session will begin at 6:30 p.m., where a group will share their career journeys. Expect to hear about what they love about their careers, the challenges they’ve faced, how they’ve overcome them, and the advice they would offer to students entering the field today.

Following the panel, there will be ample time for open networking from 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is your chance to engage with panelists and other professionals one-on-one, ask more in-depth questions, and discuss potential career opportunities in a relaxed, supportive environment.
