Drawing from his experience aboard His Majesty’s Canadian Ship Protecteur during a catastrophic engine room fire, LCdr Stephen Oxley will discuss Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) risk management processes and provide practical examples of high-functioning relationships between equipment operators and engineers. Attendees will participate in a discussion about how translating RCN risk management policies into practice is critical to ensure mission success.

About LCdr Stephen Oxley

LCdr Oxley joined the RCN in 2006 and graduated from the Royal Military College with a bachelor of arts in politics and economics. He has served in the RCN for 19 years aboard ships such as His Majesty’s Canadian Ships Protecteur, Ottawa, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Saskatoon, Yellowknife, Winnipeg and Max Bernays. He has deployed on operations such as Op PROJECTION in the Indo-Pacific, Op NANOOK in the Canadian Arctic and Op CARIBBE off the coast of Guatemala and Nicaragua. He is a project management professional who has accumulated over 800 days at sea with the RCN and is currently employed as the executive officer of the Patrol Craft Training Unit in Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt.
