EDI in action: Advancing research with women+ and children

This comprehensive webinar series, hosted by WCHRI and in collaboration with the College of Health Sciences, is designed for researchers at all career stages looking to advance research in women+ and/or children’s health. The series features expert speakers addressing critical aspects of equity, diversity, and inclusion in research practice. Topics include EDI implementation in biomedical research and grant applications, ethical engagement with Indigenous People and communities, 2SLGBTQIA inclusion, and using inclusive language in research. 

Join WCHRI and the College of Health Sciences for the first in a series of webinars about improving EDI research practices. In this session, you will learn how to integrate EDI best practices into biomedical research design and practice. We will touch on how to incorporate these ideas into EDI statements. This session is intended for biomedical researchers and those interested in fostering healthy, productive research environments.

Speaker 

Lisa Willis is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and an adjunct professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Alberta. In 2018, she founded InclusiveSTEM, a literature-based and data-driven framework for improving the participation and lived experiences of people from marginalized groups in STEM.
