Graduate Teaching + Learning Program
Overview
The Graduate Teaching + Learning Program (GTLP) is a multi-tier program designed to help graduate students and postdoctoral fellows become post-secondary educators. The program includes practical courses, a practicum experience, pedagogy and course design mentorship, and research or course development opportunities. The GTLP offers four levels of programming for students to participate in, as follows:

Eligibility Requirements
The Graduate Teaching + Learning Program is available to all graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at the University of Alberta. Graduate students are not required to complete all program levels; however, if doing so, levels must be completed in sequence. Postdoctoral fellows can access the program at various stages and should contact the program contact for further details.
Recognition + Compensation
- The GTLP courses and workshops are free. They are pass/fail and are not for credit. Successful completion of each level is recorded on your transcript.
Duration, Format + Location
- The duration, format and location of offerings depends on the Program Level.
- GTLP may be offered in-person or online through live or asynchronous formats.
- The duration of each level varies and will require anywhere from approximately 18 hours up to 60 hours to complete.
