Speech Language Pathology - Clinical Education
Overview
Clinical education is a mandatory component of the MSc in Speech-Language Pathology degree program. Students will complete a total of 350 supervised clinical hours. Clinical education is integrated throughout the degree program and takes place in a variety of practice settings including acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, supportive living, community health centers, schools, preschools and private practices. Students are supported by a registered Speech-Language Pathologist during their placement experiences.

Eligibility Requirements
- Clinical education is a mandatory requirement of the MSc in Speech-Language Pathology and is exclusive to students in this degree program.
Recognition + Compensation
- Clinical placements are unpaid experiences.
- Students will receive a ‘Credit (CR) or No Credit (NC)’ grade for their placement experiences.
Duration, Format + Location
- Students complete clinical placements in a variety of settings around the province. Limited international opportunities or placements outside of Alberta may be available.
- Students complete a minimum of 350 supervised clinical hours throughout their degree program. These required hours are divided between adult, pediatric, assessment, treatment hours as well as hours in the SLP minor area of Audiology.
