Indigenous Research

The University of Alberta is deepening its commitment to reconciliation by fostering Indigenous sovereignty through collaborative scientific research and the historic permanent raising of Treaty 6 and Métis flags on campus. Our scholars are leading vital initiatives in language revitalization and community-based health studies, such as researching autism within First Nations communities to ensure culturally relevant care. From the groundbreaking archaeological work of Kisha Supernant to the powerful storytelling of filmmaker Tasha Hubbard, the university continues to elevate Indigenous voices and knowledge to preserve culture and promote collective healing.
