Program Overview
Westlake University, located in the picturesque city of Hangzhou, is a new type of research university, a first in the history of modern China. It is both supported by public and private funding and a vanguard in the reform of the higher education system in China. With its predecessor, Westlake Institute for Advanced Study, established in 2016, Westlake University is striving to cultivate top talent, to make breakthroughs in basic research and innovation in cutting-edge technologies, and to foster human development through science and technology.

Confirmed projects for Summer 2027 include:
- Development of new bioinks for 3D printing and skin tissue engineering
- Security and Privacy Analysis in Large Language Models

Deadline: Applications closed for Summer 2026. Likely late January for 2027.
Instructions: Apply on Horizons. Ensure that your letter of intent mentions which project you are interested in.
Fees + Costs
Nomination Fee: $250 CAD
Program Benefits:
- Monthly allowance of 3,000 RMB from the China Scholarship Council.
- On-campus accommodation is provided.
Students are encouraged to apply for funding even if they do not have a confirmed internship to avoid missing important deadlines.
