U of A students who are interested in education abroad, and international exchange students who need assistance with their exchange programs at the U of A, can connect with an advisor through the I-Advise appointment booking system.

Our team of advisors can provide information on the following:

  • Semester and Full-Year Exchange Programs 
  • Short-term, e3, or Summer Programs
  • International Internships
    NOTE: we do not provide advice on obtaining work permits/visas for foreign countries.  You should direct all inquiries to the nearest Consulate or Embassy for your destination country.

Book an Appointment Connect via the Student Service portal

How to Book an Appointment
  1. Follow the prompts and enter your CCID. Your CCID is the first part of your '@ualberta' email address.
  2. Choose Study Abroad or Internship Abroad if you are already a student at the University of Alberta and would like to talk to an advisor about going abroad to study or participate in an internship. If you are an incoming exchange student already at the University of Alberta and would like to speak to an advisor, select this option as well.
  3. Select the topic you wish to learn about.
  4. Pick a date and time that you want to meet the advisor. A text message and email are sent with a link for your online meeting by booking this appointment.
    • Monday afternoons - best for funding and awards information
    • Tuesdays - best for exchange programs and assistance for international exchange students already at the U of A
    • Wednesdays - best for short-term, e3, or summer programs
    • Thursdays - best for international internships
How to Connect through the Service Portal

If you don't yet have a UAlberta CCID:

  1. Go to
  2. Click on "Sign up" in the top right corner of the screen
  3. Enter the information requested and click on "Register"
  4. The information you will need to start using the service portal will be sent to the email account with which you registered.  Please check the inbox, spam/junk mail and trash/garbage/deleted folders of that email account for the information.  

If you already have a UAlberta CCID:

  1. Go to
  2. Click on "Login" in the top right corner of the screen
  3. Click on "Sign in with CCID"
  4. Enter your CCID and password, and click on "Login"
  5. Click on "Submit a General Inquiry" near the bottom of the screen.
  6. Select "Student General Enquiry" from the drop-down for "What kind of support are you looking for?"
  7. Select "Go Abroad" from the drop-down for "Student Services - Subject Area"
  8. Select the appropriate topic from the drop-down for "Topic"
  9. Fill out the rest of the fields as required
  10. Click on "Submit" near the bottom right corner of the screen
