Program Overview
- Conduct research under an RWTH supervisor as part of a master's or doctoral thesis
- Applicants must independently identify & secure support of an RWTH supervisor
- Funding available for up to 6 months

- Summer: From April 1 to September 30;
- Winter: From October 1 to March 30
Duration: 3-6 months

Application Deadlines + Instructions
Deadlines:
- January 31 for research stays during the Summer (April 1 to Sept 30)
- July 31 for research stays during the Winter (October 1 to March 30)
Note: Applicants who are not Canadian or EU citizens are advised to apply at least six months in advance due to longer visa procedures.
Instructions:
1) Review the application instructions on RWTH Aachen's webpage.
2) Identify and contact a research supervisor at RWTH Aachen to ensure they are willing and able to host you. The student and researcher should discuss the details of the intended project prior to application. For the application, please ensure you also have the following on hand and submit to the MoveOn platform:
- Curriculum Vitae with contact details (mailing address, e-mail)
- Declaration of objectives with an outline of the research project, name of the supervisor, information on the duration of the stay, description of the expected results totaling 1-2 pages
- Letter of recommendation from the supervisor of the home university with reference to the research project and details on the expected outcome and/or prospective cooperation in the future
- Confirmation of supervision of the host university with reference to the research project as well as details on the expected outcome and/or prospective cooperation in the future
- Enrollment certification from your home university (for master students)
- Transcript of records (for master students)
- A copy of your passport
3) Email your documents to goabroad@ualberta.ca stating your intention to participate in the program.
Fees + Costs
Funding for up to 6 months
- Master's students: €900 per month for up to six months
- PhD students:€1,250 per month for up to six months
Note: Single parents as well as chronically ill or disabled individuals can be granted a higher scholarship amount by providing proof for the additional need.
- Accommodation available in student dorm.
Note: To apply for placement in a student dorm, the following arrival times are best: March 1 and August 1.
