Research Day
57th ANNUAL SUMMER STUDENTS’ RESEARCH DAY
The Summer Students' Research Day will be held in-person on Friday, October 18, 2024 starting at 1:00 pm. Undergraduate students are invited to showcase their summer research projects in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD) by submitting an abstract and presenting their poster about their research.
Abstract Submission
How to create and submit your Abstract
Note: You must be signed into your UofA Google Account using an updated web browser like Google.
- Make a copy of the Abstract Template Google Doc.
- Complete the Google Doc by replacing the placeholders (e.g. {Abstract} or {Abstract Title}) with your actual abstract details. It is essential you refer to the abstract guidelines provided below. (see number 10)
- Go File > Download > PDF Document (.pdf) to save the file to your computer.
- Fill out the Abstract Submission Form by entering your name and uploading the PDF file you just created.
- Please ensure that you have your supervisor approve your abstract before you submit it.
- Look for your confirmation of submission email in your U of A email. If you do not receive one, you did not submit.
- Look for your approval or rejection email which will come after your submission is reviewed by the Office of Research. If you receive a rejection email, correct the issues and submit a new response. You cannot edit your previous response.
- Submission deadline is Monday, September 16, 2024 (11:59 p.m.)

Research Day Program Cover Award Competition

- Students are invited to submit their original design for the front cover of the abstract booklet distributed at the Summer Students' Research Day. Prize: one $100 gift card to the UofA Bookstore.
- Entry deadline is Monday, September 16, 2024 (11:59 p.m.)
Presenting a Poster
- Instructions for "Preparation of a Poster" click here
- It is important to note that posters must be presented in Portrait format - maximum of 4 feet high and 3 feet wide. Any posters that are larger than these dimensions cannot be posted.
- Please note: The Office of Research will not reimburse costs for printing the posters.
