Lessons from Nature: Innovation of Traditional Medicines
Dr. Li explores traditional medicines as a vital resource for drug discovery, highlighted by the identification of gnidimacrin as a promising candidate for eliminating latent HIV reservoirs. It further validates Japanese Kampo medicines by demonstrating the antioxidant mechanisms of Tsudosan and their relationship to traditional clinical uses.

Analytical mass spectrometry to evaluate bioactive cannabinoids and psilocin in cannabis and magic mushrooms
Dr. El-Aneed's team developed advanced mass spectrometric fingerprints to profile cannabinoids and psilocin, leading to the discovery of therapeutic compounds like sesquicannabigerol with improved safety profiles. By overcoming complex analytical interferences in plasma and brain tissue, this research establishes robust new methods for advancing the pharmaceutical utility of psychoactive natural substances.
