Preceptors

Become a pharmacy preceptor
Preceptors are practicing pharmacists who provide personal instruction, training, supervision and mentorship to pharmacy students in a real-world setting. You are the heart of our program, advancing the profession and shaping future colleagues.

Why precept?
- Directly shape the education and professional development of future pharmacists.
- Enhance your teaching, leadership and communication skills.
- Provide the important mentorship you received as a student.
The role of a preceptor
Our students complete up to 40 weeks of supervised rotations and experiential education across our two PharmD programs — one for entry-to-practice and one for practicing pharmacists (PPP). This diverse training is made possible by our dedicated preceptors. Your commitment is crucial to our program's success.
As a preceptor, you will:
- Create valuable patient care opportunities.
- Guide students through real-world scenarios.
- Assess their professional performance and growth.
Diverse Practice Settings
We aim to provide students with optimal learning opportunities by partnering with exemplary preceptors across diverse settings throughout the province.
Our preceptors practice in a wide variety of environments, including:
- Institutions, including acute care, long-term care and corrections facilities
- Community pharmacies
- Ambulatory clinics
- Specialty sites (For example: drug stewardship, academic/teaching, research, industry, leadership)
