Update on the Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC) Implementation

19 August 2025

The launch date for Oracle Recruitment Cloud (ORC) will now take place October 5 to 6. This decision was made due to three key factors:

  • Critical Tax Update: The federal government's recently announced "middle-class tax cut" that takes effect July 2025 requires a critical system update and patch from Oracle. Shared Services and IST will be implementing this on the weekend of September 5-6 so that employees may receive this benefit on their paycheques as soon as possible. This update takes priority over the launch of ORC and ensures the university is accurately deducting and remitting income tax in compliance with updated source deduction tables. Learn more.
  • Oracle Recruitment Cloud Quarterly Update: Oracle is releasing a quarterly system update on September 6. This includes important security updates, bug fixes, and enhancements. We may risk negative impacts to our updated recruitment practices by implementing the required update immediately following the launch of ORC. It is most prudent to allow our team time to assess and understand these system updates before launching the new system.
  • September Seasonal Surge: The fall term is the busiest time for the university. With the tax update and the system update as described above, launch of ORC during this high-volume period may create unnecessary client satisfaction and technical execution risks. The revised launch date ensures that we can better manage any potential risks to the quality and integrity of our data conversions and integrations and system stability. This also ensures our support teams can focus on their essential September tasks without being diverted in the event ORC is impacted.
